Experience
AMBER was established in 1978 to specialise in local traffic signal control systems and RTM was established in 1985 to specialise in the implementation of traffic management schemes for road works on a national basis. AMBER-RTM now undertakes all types of traffic management including traffic signal set ups, lane closures on dual carriageways, mobile lane closures, tidal contra flows on motorways and the provision and installation of temporary crash barrier.
Competency
We are on the Highways Agency pre-qualified list of contractors for the work category of Traffic Management.
We support the Traffic Management Contractors Association.
We are a member of the Civil Engineering Contractors Association.
We are registered with Constructionline.
We are Quality Assured to ISO 9001: 2000 and accredited in accordance with Sector Scheme Document 12A Specification for Highway Works.
The Company is also an approved Sector Scheme assessment centre and we have two approved external assessors.
Resources
We currently employ 25 staff including management, foreman and operatives. Vehicles owned by the Company include 2No 7.5 tonne trucks; 2No 12 tonne trucks; 3No crash cushions and 8No pick-ups. All of our vehicles comply with the requirements of the Temporary Traffic Management on High Speed Roads Good Working Practise Document. Our Technical Manager in conjunction with Mercedes administers a national vehicle maintenance programme.
We are continually seeking to improve the quality and performance of the service we provide and this is emphasised in the training and development of the staff. We have provided you with a schedule of training to demonstrate the competency of our employees and enclose CV’S of our Contracts Managers that would be involved in this Contract
Our preferred Sub-contractor for temporary road markings is WJ Roadmarkings. This relationship has developed over recent years and we are assured of a quality service to meet our client’s requirements.
We also have good working relationships with Assett International for the provision of Varioguard safety barrier. RTM owns a considerable amount of (TVCB) temporary vertical concrete barrier and employs trained operatives for its installation and removal.
RTM frequently provides advice to clients and can provide CAD drawings for specific schemes and non - standard signs can be manufactured from our own CAD facility.
Health and Safety
The full services of Croner Consulting are available to RTM, which includes legal, personnel, health, safety and environmental issues. Croner Consulting have been appointed as the ‘Competent Person’ under the Management of Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999, to assist in applying the provisions of health and safety law and devising and applying protective measures. Traffic Management is an essential element of site safety and this is recognised in the Sector Scheme training and assessment. Our Technical Manager frequently carries out inductions and training assessments on site and welcomes the client to include his staff in the inductions.
Continuous Improvement
In order to provide a more efficient service to our customers and to improve our own efficiency we have invested in Minorplanet’s vehicle monitoring system. All of our vehicles are fitted with this tracking device, which can provide timed Journey and Vehicle Activity Reports. In order to comply with our QMS and the desire for continuous improvement we have developed a Customer Satisfaction Report. Reports are actioned by Contracts Managers and discussed at monthly Management Meetings.
A key aspect of our business has always been to establish long-term relationships with Contractors and Sub-contractors; this has resulted in repeat business and all parties benefiting from reduced costs and an increase in workload.
